Rob Sainsbury

A martial arts student from age 6 and a competitive rower since 16, Rob first began coaching in his early 20s while at University and continued working with clubs across Canada and Overseas following graduation. Versed in a variety of fighting styles, his competitive background includes amateur boxing, Muay Thai in Northern Thailand, and Brazilian JiuJitsu under Royler Gracie Black Belt David Dominy, with non-competitive experience in traditional Chinese and Okinawan martial arts. Leaving rowing in 2012, he began Triathlon in 2015 and became active on the local and regional circuit. He won the Provincial Sprint Distance Championship for his Age Group in 2016 and qualified for Canada’s Age Group National Team, competing at the ITU World Grand Final РRotterdam 2017. Rob is a technically-minded coach who stresses the importance of fundamental skills and mindful progress regardless of sport.
